Our body's fist-sized motor engine, the heart is where magic happens. It's one of our most complex organs, supporting our body and its daily demands. Different aspects of the heart are tested by different means and we are often asked: "why must I have an echo and not an ECG to assess my aorta". Here's why ...

Echo (Echocardiogram)

-Ultrasound scan of the heart
-Looks at the heart structure e.g. pump function, valve function, size of the aorta

ECG (Electrocardiogram)

-Looks at the electrical activity of the heart e.g. heart rate, heart rhythm, electrical pathways in the heart
