Translating medical reality into eye-catching art, fine artist Zoe Ridgeway has enlivened our social media graphics with her wonderful imagery. Zoe lives with Marfan syndrome and volunteers for the Marfan Trust. On this final day of Volunteers’ Week, we would like to pay tribute to Zoe.
By Zoe Ridgeway
Living with Marfan syndrome has brought many challenges into my life, but one thing I will always be grateful for is the support, kindness, and community I’ve found through the Marfan Trust.
The Trust has helped me feel seen, understood, and supported during some of the most difficult moments of my journey, especially through major health challenges and open heart surgery. Knowing there are people who genuinely care and work tirelessly to support those affected by Marfan syndrome means more than words can express.
Volunteering has become incredibly important to me because it’s given me the opportunity to give something back to a community that has helped me so much. It has allowed me to connect with others, share experiences, raise awareness, and hopefully make even a small difference to someone else navigating life with Marfan syndrome.
Being involved has reminded me that even through difficult experiences, there can still be purpose, connection, and strength found in helping others. I’m truly thankful to be part of such a compassionate and inspiring community.
