Bringing Marfan syndrome beyond a captive audience and into the public conversation is essential. Last week, PEARS pioneer Tal Golesworthy was interviewed on the BBC World Service, reflecting on both his life-saving invention and his own experience of living with a connective tissue disorder.


As a boy, Tal was the tallest pupil in his school, blissfully unaware of the implications Marfan syndrome would one day have for his heart. He describes himself as eccentric, a quality that proved instrumental in the ingenuity and determination that ultimately led to his remarkable invention.
