Barry Landa - 19 Mile Cycle Ride
Barry Landa was diagnosed as being Marfanic as a young boy. His Mother, Aunt, Uncle and Cousin all have Marfan syndrome and have each undergone heart surgery to replace their aortic root and various valves over the past 25 years.
In 2009 Barry had has aortic root replaced. Following surgery he started cycling as a way of gaining cardio vascular exercise and which has now turned into a hobby.
Last year Barry organised a charity bike ride in aid of the Marfan Trust. 17 riders of all abilities took to the road and completed the 19 mile journey. Over £1,000 was raised for the Marfan Trust from this event. Barry has organised another cycle ride this year, which will take place on Sunday, 22 July 2012 and will start and finish at The Bulls Head pub in Pratts Bottom, Kent.
